Description

This is splash art for a concept game I called Black Myth: Baba Yaga, and it began as a new telling of the old folktale. In my version Baba Yaga is a grieving mortal mother. Her son dies in a hunting accident, and to bring him back she makes a deal with the devil, who turns her into a frightening figure, grants her dark magic and asks for one hundred children to feed him in return. When the hundredth child is given and the devil refuses to return her son, she understands she was used from the start. She sacrifices herself to destroy the devil living inside her, and the cycle of innocent deaths ends with her.
